Social Structure of Manavgat |
|
Manavgat' s main structure is formed by old population and new population. Old population means peoples who came to city rural areas and lives on agriculture and livestock. There are also limited number of Turk people who came from Crete and Greece. Old population maintains its own characteristics till 1985s where first emigration wave started with the effect of improved tourism investments.
Manavgat public people generally are open to change. But at the same time they manage to secure Anatolian customs. Nowadays you can always live Anatolian customs in Manavgat. Stationary population still maintains transhumant at summer days. There are lots of people called Yörük who lives on livestock pass to transhumant at summers and live at the coast at winters. Göktepe, Merdivenli, Ağaçtepesi, Dumanlı, İbek,Yenicepazar, Akdağ, Toka, Ketenli, Mezgit, Çatayağı ve Sülek Plateaus are most important places for this Yörüks.
